Happy Holidays!
It would be impossible for me to express the gratitude I feel for the lessons and the opportunities that this year has brought. Business has been booming, thanks to you, and we are blessed to have another year under our belts with great new employees and an ever expanding customer base.
It’s honestly hard to believe sometimes.
This morning I was having breakfast with my best friend and we were talking about The Pier Peddler. My folks opened that store in 1985. In a world where companies like Sears and Pier One Imports and other big retail corporations are closing their doors, The Pier Peddler continues to chug along. Like the little engine that could! If you haven’t see the store in a while…take a look! https://my.matterport.com/show/?m=v5iLQ6qRZL8&fbclid=IwAR1XpsSBWlCKKNnVwZzFA31a7zkV9cD6dCV-_wqoFntPn9yh2H3ioijKOhY
I got really emotional thinking about it. There I am in the middle of my fruit cup with tears rolling down my face! What a sight! I remember days when my dad and I would count the till at the end of the shift and decide who best to pay! What bills could we cover and what vendors might continue to extend us a little credit. We were blessed to have a landlord who believed in us and trusted us and worked with us to help us succeed. Without him, well…I don’t know what would have happened. There were tough, lean times for sure. But we made it. My dad and mom have been gone for years now and I would love nothing more in the world than to have them see what it looks like now…and how far we have come. I hope, every day, that they would be happy with it.
The holidays are always a time of reflection for me…maybe it’s the year approaching an end or simply the overload of emotions, both happy and sad. This year is no different except that I am trying, each day, to start with a spirit of gratefulness. Gratitude for the fine folks that work beside me. Grateful for the customers that have patronized our stores for so many years and especially for those of you who have taken the time to stop by or send a card wishing us continued success…it really has meant so much!
Most of all…I am truly thankful that we are here today to wish you a Merry Christmas! Thank you for everything!
